UN Secretary-General Guterres: Climate crisis is destroying lives and livelihoods
New York, July 23 (Hibya) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the impacts of the climate crisis, calling for global emission reductions and a move away from fossil fuels.
Guterres stated, "The climate crisis is destroying lives and livelihoods. We must significantly accelerate the emissions reduction process and meet global commitments."
The Secretary-General emphasized the importance of the goals to double energy efficiency and triple renewable energy capacity by 2030. He also noted the need to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels.
The statement once again highlighted the necessity for global cooperation and concrete steps to combat climate change.
