Russian delegation lands in Istanbul for talks with Ukraine
Istanbul, July 23 (Hibya) - The Russian delegation landed in Istanbul to participate in negotiations regarding the resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
The third round of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev is expected to begin this evening.
A Turkish source familiar with the matter told RIA Novosti that the third round of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev is expected to be held on Wednesday at 19:00 Moscow time at the Çırağan Palace.
According to Russian sources, the delegation is headed by Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky. The agenda includes issues related to draft memorandums. The parties will also discuss further talks. Other matters will be addressed as needed.
The delegation also includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov, and Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that there is no reason to expect a miraculous breakthrough in the new round of talks with Ukraine. Peskov also noted that there have been no changes in the composition of the Russian group for the new round of negotiations.
Previous talks took place in May and June in Istanbul. The talks resulted in a prisoner exchange, and Moscow handed over the bodies of fallen soldiers to the Kiev regime. The parties also exchanged draft memorandums regarding the resolution of the conflict.
More than 100 media representatives are waiting in front of the Çırağan Palace to follow the negotiations.
