Turkish Students Join Honeywell's Space Camp in the USA
The 13th Honeywell Leadership Academy brought together 237 students from 46 countries, including 3 students from Turkey, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Honeywell Leadership Academy, organized annually by Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON), brought together 237 students from 46 countries, including Turkey, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (USSRC) in Huntsville, Alabama, this year. The Space Camp took place from October 15 to 20 and from October 22 to 27, targeting students aged 16 to 18. The program aims to inspire participants for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students were welcomed with hands-on activities in coding, computer science, leadership, communication skills, and space science.
The Turkish students Nehir Ada Saraç, Mehmet Kerim Kuru, and Fatih Kaan Ermiş, who participated in the Honeywell Leadership Academy this year, returned to their country with reinforced interests and abilities in the STEM field.
Uygar Doyuran, President of Honeywell Turkey, Israel, and Central Asia, emphasized the importance of technology and education in shaping the future:
"For 13 years, we have been contributing to students participating in the Space Camp and developing their skills in STEM and communication. This year, we are pleased to provide three Turkish students with the opportunity to attend the camp. Career opportunities in the STEM field will shape future technological developments. Fostering young people's interest in this field is not only important for their own careers but also for global technological progress."
Since the program's inception in 2010, approximately 3,000 students from around the world have participated in the Space Camp thanks to Honeywell's support. Among Honeywell's innovations, a leading aerospace company offering a wide range of products for aircraft and airports worldwide, are hydrogen fuel cells for unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), megawatt turbo generators for hybrid electric aircraft, electric aircraft engines, and sustainable aviation fuels derived from various sustainable raw materials that meet the strictest jet fuel performance standards.
