Lazzarini: Palestinian children's rights are violated every day
New York, November 20 (Hibya) – Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stated on the occasion of World Children's Day on November 20 that Palestinian children's rights are violated every day.
Commissioner-General Lazzarini pointed out that 30 years ago, the world adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, committing to respect and support children's rights.
Lazzarini emphasized that Palestinian children's rights are violated daily: "Gaza has become a graveyard for children. They are killed, injured, forced to flee, and deprived of safety, education, and play. Their childhoods have been stolen, and they are on the brink of becoming a lost generation after losing yet another school year."
Lazzarini highlighted that children in the occupied West Bank live in fear and anxiety, adding:
"Since October last year, more than 170 people have been killed there, while other children lose their childhood in Israeli detention centers. The occupied Palestinian territories are not a place for children. They deserve better, they deserve peace, justice, and a brighter future."
