Ghebreyesus: Surgical and essential medical supplies delivered to pharmacy in Gaza
Geneva, October 15 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that, as part of increased operations following the ceasefire, three trucks carrying surgical and essential medical supplies were delivered from the Deir al-Balah warehouse to the central pharmacy in Gaza City.
Ghebreyesus stated that the supplies will be transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital and will meet the needs of 10,000 people. He thanked the EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid for their continued support in providing essential medicines to Palestinians in Gaza.
The WHO Director-General added that the organization has also deployed an international emergency medical team to strengthen orthopedic surgery and trauma care, established two new operating rooms, and plans to add 120 beds to expand Al-Shifa Hospital’s capacity.
“We call for continued access and donor support to enable the rehabilitation of Gaza’s health system,” Ghebreyesus said.
