Zelensky: We stand in solidarity with the people of Portugal
Kyiv, September 1 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that they stand in solidarity with the people of Portugal due to the forest fires there.
President Zelensky announced that he held a meeting with Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.
He emphasized that Portugal has supported Ukraine since the very beginning of this full-scale war, and that this support is truly felt in Ukraine. “I expressed my gratitude for all the assistance provided, including defense aid and funding for the Superhero Schools, which allow our children to continue their education while receiving treatment,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky stated that during the meeting they discussed diplomatic efforts and the development of security guarantees, saying:
“On Thursday, the Coalition of the Willing will meet to discuss the prepared security guarantee points, and we rely on Portugal’s participation. We see Ukraine’s EU membership as one of the fundamental elements of security guarantees. We agreed that there should be no division between Ukraine and Moldova on this path.”
Zelensky added that Montenegro also shared with him the effects of the large forest fires in Portugal, saying: “We stand in solidarity with the people of Portugal and are always ready to help. We wish them a speedy recovery.”
