WHO: Last person infected with Ebola in Congo discharged
Geneva, October 19 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that the last person infected with Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been discharged from the treatment center.
Ghebreyesus said that very good news had arrived from the Democratic Republic of the Congo — the last person infected with Ebola has been discharged from the treatment center.
He noted that 19 of the 64 people affected in this outbreak have recovered. “Unfortunately, the others have died. No new cases have been reported since September 25,” he said.
“Today’s milestone marks the start of a 42-day countdown, after which, if no new cases are confirmed, the outbreak will be declared over,” Ghebreyesus added.
