President Trump stated that Gustavo Petro is an illegal drug leader who actively promotes widespread drug production across the country, both on large and small plots of land.

He said this has now become the largest business in Colombia, and that despite large-scale payments and subsidies from the U.S., Petro has done nothing to stop it. Trump continued:

“These payments are nothing more than a long-term theft from America. As of today, all payments or subsidies to Colombia will cease. The purpose of this drug production is to sell massive quantities of the product to the United States, causing death, destruction, and chaos.”

Trump added, “Petro, a weak and unpopular leader, must immediately stop his harsh rhetoric against America and shut down these death fields; otherwise, the United States will shut them down for him — and it will not be done nicely.”
