Von der Leyen: We expect Serbia to strengthen its determination on the path to the EU
Brussels, October 15 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen recalled Serbia’s decision, made nearly twenty years ago, to join the European Union, saying that this choice carries both strategic and emotional significance.
Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that Serbia’s decision to pursue EU membership, taken almost two decades ago, was both a strategic and emotional choice.
In a statement on social media, von der Leyen said: “Nearly twenty years ago, Serbia chose to join our Union. It was not only a strategic decision; it was also a choice made by the people, from the heart. We now expect Serbia to strengthen its determination on its path toward the European Union.”
