UNRWA: Famine in Gaza can be prevented, aid entry must be allowed
New York, August 23 (Hibya) - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that the famine in Gaza City can be stopped and that in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, urgent and large-scale aid entry must be allowed.
The statement called for large-scale aid deliveries to Gaza, particularly emphasizing the need to increase humanitarian shipments through the UN and UNRWA. UNRWA noted that in its warehouses in Jordan and Egypt alone, it has enough food, medicine, and hygiene supplies to fill 6,000 trucks.
The agency called on Israel to allow the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
