Canadian Prime Minister Carney: We are determined to preserve the trade advantage achieved with the United States
Ottawa, August 22 (Hibya) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made a statement regarding his country’s trade relations with the United States.
Carney emphasized that Canada currently has the most favorable trade agreement with the U.S., noting that 85 percent of exports are carried out without customs duties.
He announced a new step to maintain this advantage, stating that under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (CUSMA), tariffs on certain U.S.-origin products will be lifted. Carney explained that this decision was taken in response to similar steps by the U.S. to remove tariffs.
Prime Minister Carney stressed that this measure aims to further strengthen trade between the two countries and increase the global competitiveness of the Canadian economy.
