Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns Israel’s closure of six UNRWA schools in Jerusalem
Ramallah, April 8 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel’s decision to close six UNRWA schools in Jerusalem.
The ministry stated that it condemns the decision by Israeli authorities to close six schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) located in Shuafat refugee camp, Silwan, Wadi al-Joz, and Sur Baher in Jerusalem.
The statement said the decision deprives hundreds of students of their right to education, darkens their future, imposes the Israeli curriculum on them, and harms the educational process.
“This is a blatant violation of the immunity and privileges granted to the United Nations and its agencies and a serious assault on international law and legitimacy, which affirm that Jerusalem is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967 and the capital of the State of Palestine.”
