Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that overseas voting in the elections for deputies of the 9th convocation of the State Duma had been completed.

According to a statement from the ministry, the final polling station abroad closed at one of Russia’s diplomatic missions at 5:00 a.m. Moscow time on September 20.

As part of the work of Russia’s Central Election Commission and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 326 polling stations were established at Russian embassies, permanent missions and consulates general in 152 countries to enable Russian citizens living or temporarily staying abroad to vote.

The statement said voting in Bahrain, Israel, Iraq, Yemen, China, Kuwait and Libya was completed before the main election day due to local working arrangements and religious calendars.

It was also reported that Russian diplomatic and consular missions organized 121 early voting sessions for employees of Russian companies and organizations working far from their home country, as well as military personnel tasked with ensuring the security of Russia’s allies.

The ministry claimed that in some countries Russia describes as “unfriendly countries,” Russian citizens faced “attempts at intimidation” ahead of the election process, and said citizens cast their votes despite psychological pressure.
