Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sybiha said he briefed Vieira on the latest developments on the front and Ukraine’s efforts toward a comprehensive and lasting peace.

The situation in the Black Sea was a particular focus of the meeting. Sybiha said Russia’s ongoing attacks and attempts to disrupt maritime routes pose a direct threat to freedom of navigation and global food security.

Sybiha said restoring safe and unhindered navigation is important far beyond the region.

The meeting also addressed the development of Ukraine-Brazil relations, deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest and strengthening political and economic ties.

Sybiha said he appreciated Brazil’s engagement and the ongoing dialogue, adding that they count on Brazil’s support in advancing a peace based on the United Nations Charter and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
