Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that another dangerous red line for Israeli democracy has been crossed, adding: "At no time in Israel’s history or in the history of democracies has a former head of a secret organization openly issued blackmail threats against a sitting prime minister."

Netanyahu pointed out that this crime has been added to the campaign of threats and blackmail carried out through media briefings by the current head of Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, and said:

"My sole aim is to prevent me from making the necessary decisions to rebuild Shin Bet after the devastating failure of October 7. Let’s be clear: Mafia-style criminal threats will not deter me. I will do whatever is necessary to ensure the security of Israeli citizens."
