Merz: With the Active Retirement scheme, we are making post-retirement work attractive again
Berlin, October 15 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that with the government’s approved “Active Retirement” (Aktivrente) plan, working after retirement will be encouraged.
In a post on his social media account, Merz stated: “We are making work during retirement attractive again. With the Active Retirement regulation approved by the cabinet, additional monthly income of up to 2,000 euros after retirement will be exempt from tax.”
The Chancellor added that the reform of the welfare state is being pursued with determination, noting that “The Active Retirement scheme is an important step in this reform process.”
