Grandi calls for international aid after Afghanistan earthquake
New York, September 1 (Hibya) - UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said that the powerful earthquake in Afghanistan caused significant loss of life, adding that a new tragedy has been added to the country’s existing challenges.
Grandi noted that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan has further deteriorated due to the earthquake, along with drought and the forced return of millions of Afghans from neighboring countries.
Calling on the international donor community, Grandi stressed that there should be no hesitation in supporting relief efforts.
