European Parliament approves new tariffs on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus
Brussels, May 23 (Hibya) – Members of the European Parliament approved a proposal to impose a 50% tariff on certain agricultural products from Russia and Belarus that were not previously subject to extra duties.
According to a statement from the EP, lawmakers backed plans to increase tariffs on fertilizers and basic agricultural goods from Russia and Belarus to reduce the EU’s dependency on these countries.
As a result, imported products like sugar and flour will be subject to a 50% customs duty, regardless of whether they are imported directly or indirectly.
