Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, met with Mauritania’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Merzoug in Madrid.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed steps to further strengthen the excellent bilateral relations between their countries, as well as relations with the European Union and developments in the Sahel region.

After the meeting, Minister Albares stated, “Mauritania is one of our strategic partners in Africa. We are working to advance cooperation between our countries both bilaterally and within a regional framework.”
