President Zelensky thanked the European Union and all member states for approving the strong 19th sanctions package, saying: “This is a sign of European unity at a time when Russia is escalating the war and intensifying attacks on civilians.”

He noted that this demonstrates Europe’s unity during a period when Russia escalates the conflict and attacks on civilians, and added:

“The restrictions target what helps Moscow continue this war: the oil and gas sector, the shadow fleet, and the military-industrial complex. For the first time, sanctions are being imposed on crypto platforms and cryptocurrency schemes used by Russia to evade restrictions.”

Zelensky stressed that it is vital for the EU, the United Kingdom, and the United States to act in coordination to increase pressure on Russia and bring the much-needed peace closer.
