Costa: We Are Accelerating Our Defense Readiness Amid Growing Threats
Brussels, October 23 (Hibya) – European Council President Antonio Costa announced that the European Union has completed an important first phase in its efforts to strengthen its defense capacity.
Costa stated that since February, new tools and mechanisms have been developed in the field of defense, and that these steps have been taken in full coordination with NATO and within the framework of a comprehensive strategy.
He noted that EU member states agreed during today’s meeting on priorities, timelines, and governance structures. Highlighting the increasing global threats, Costa added:
“In the face of growing threats, we are accelerating our defense readiness — acting swiftly, comprehensively, and together.”
