During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in air defense and the steps to be taken ahead of the upcoming “Coalition of the Willing” meeting.

Zelensky informed Merz about the consequences of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the ongoing repair efforts, and the support needed to secure energy supply in cities. He emphasized that Ukraine relies on Germany’s leadership in providing both equipment and financial assistance.

The Ukrainian president also highlighted the importance of new decisions aimed at enhancing air defense capacity and expressed gratitude to Germany for its significant contributions in this field.

The meeting also addressed the mechanism for using frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine’s defense, with Zelensky stressing that Germany’s support in this process is of vital importance.
