Zelensky meets with UK Foreign Secretary Cooper
Kyiv, September 12 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, who visited Ukraine for the first time since assuming office.
The UK Foreign Secretary assured that support for Ukraine will continue and announced a budget of £142 million for winter preparations. She stressed that the UK will stand by Ukraine until peace is achieved and the country is rebuilt after the war.
Zelensky also thanked the United Kingdom for today’s announced sanctions package against Russia. The package includes 70 tankers, 27 producers and suppliers of Russia’s military-industrial complex, and three individuals. The parties discussed the importance of further strengthening sanctions against Russia, particularly by imposing additional restrictions on the Russian energy sector.
The meeting also covered in detail the development of security guarantees, especially a strong Ukrainian army. Further defense support and the implementation of the agreement on producing preventive drones developed in Ukraine in the UK were discussed. Special attention was given to strengthening air defense and long-range capabilities.
