Volunteers from 211 countries to collect waste in nature on World Cleanup Day
Stockholm, September 20 (Hibya)—On September 20, World Cleanup Day, one of the world's largest civil society events, Volunteers from 211 countries will collect waste in nature.
The event aims to mobilize 5 percent of the world's population to accelerate lasting social change in behaviour regarding poorly managed waste.
This year's event is expected to attract 91 million people from 211 countries and regions, equivalent to 1.1 percent of the global population.
Last year's World Cleanup Day saw the participation of 19.1 million people from 198 countries and regions, who collected 219 thousand tons of waste.
Volunteers in Turkey will also participate in the World's Largest Civil Environmental Movement by participating in this year's event, led by the Let's Do It civil society initiative, in more than 350 sites in 81 provinces between September 20 and 21.
