Spajic: The energy memorandum signed with Italy will create opportunities for Montenegro’s economy
Podgorica, October 24 (Hibya) – Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajic highlighted the importance of the process of exporting the country’s electricity to Italy in a statement about Montenegro’s energy sector.
Spajic said, “Italy’s annual electricity demand is twenty times greater than Montenegro’s annual production. Therefore, the fact that our electricity is considered as produced in Italy provides a major advantage.”
He noted that the newly signed energy memorandum of understanding represents a strategic turning point for Montenegro, as it will facilitate the country’s integration into the European energy market and create significant opportunities for investors.
“Thanks to this memorandum, trade volume will increase at least threefold, clearer price signals will emerge for new investments, and it will directly contribute to energy supply security,” Spajic added.
