Leyen: Sanctions are the key to bringing Putin to the negotiating table
Brussels, October 24 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that sanctions coordinated with allies and friends are the key to bringing Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
Von der Leyen stated that the “Coalition of the Willing” held an intense and productive meeting.
She emphasized that pressure remains the only language Russia understands, saying: “Sanctions coordinated with our allies and friends are the key to bringing Putin to the negotiating table.”
Von der Leyen added that they discussed the need for urgent energy support and the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense as winter approaches.
She noted that Europe is enhancing defense industry cooperation, saying: “Work on the Compensation Credit is progressing; options are expected to be presented soon.”
