Prime Minister Schoof stated that he considered the G20 meeting in Johannesburg to be successful. He emphasized that the main themes of the summit were solidarity, equality and sustainability, adding that the Netherlands, with its strong economy and open approach, can make a constructive contribution to these goals.

Schoof spoke at a session on the responsible and safe use of artificial intelligence. Discussions also included how to support the growth of developing economies and how to facilitate the attraction of private capital.

He noted that the G20 meeting provided an opportunity to meet with numerous foreign leaders in a short period of time. Schoof met with counterparts from India, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Singapore and several European countries. It was highlighted that such meetings are crucial given the shifting balance of power in international relations.
