Over 16,000 people displaced in Gaza
New York, August 23 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that between August 12–20, as a result of intensified Israeli military operations in Gaza City, more than 16,000 people were displaced.
According to an UNRWA statement, based on UN data, between August 12–20, more than 16,000 people were forced to leave their homes due to intensified Israeli military operations in Gaza City.
The statement noted that families have had to carry tents with them, as for almost six months no new shelter materials have been allowed into Gaza. These tents have been set up in already overcrowded UNRWA schools that have been turned into shelters.
The statement stressed that as Israel’s military operations intensify, even more people will be displaced: “There is no safe place in Gaza.”
