After a series of powerful earthquakes in central Japan and its surroundings, the number of deaths in Ishikawa prefecture has risen to 62.
According to information obtained from CCTV, the number of deaths in Ishikawa prefecture has risen to 62 as of 08:00 local time following a series of powerful earthquakes in central Japan and its surroundings.
The earthquake also left 19 health facilities in the disaster-stricken area without water and electricity. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced that there are cracks about 10 centimeters deep and over 10 meters long on the runway of Noto Airport, leading to the closure of the runway. Some sections of highways were also closed in various places.
The ministry added that the road leading to Noto Airport in Ishikawa prefecture was impassable, and the runway was damaged, resulting in the isolation of about 500 passengers and residents of the area. Additionally, according to statistics, more than 53,000 people sought refuge in 955 temporary shelters after the earthquake.
