Israel sharply criticizes Guterres: Ignoring reality fuels conflict
Jerusalem, June 15 (Hibya) - The Israeli Foreign Ministry criticized United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres over his stance regarding Hezbollah and Iran, stating that "ignoring terrorism fuels conflict."
In a statement, the Israeli Foreign Ministry criticized United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The statement referred to attacks carried out by the Lebanon-based Hezbollah group and its alleged support from Iran, emphasizing that Israel is "defending itself."
The ministry criticized Guterres for not directly referring to Hezbollah in his remarks and for not clearly emphasizing Iran's role, arguing that such an approach encourages conflict rather than reducing it.
The statement further asserted that "failing to clearly identify the aggressors encourages them and increases violence," while also directing criticism at the UN leadership.
Israel stated that the current approach escalates tensions in the region rather than easing them and called on the United Nations to adopt a clearer position.
