Costa: We want balanced and reliable relations with China
Kuala Lumpur, October 27 (Hibya) – European Council President Antonio Costa met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit.
European Council President Costa discussed with Premier Li Qiang the current state and future of EU–China relations.
Costa emphasized that the European Union places great importance on constructive and stable relations with China, stating: “We want to strengthen cooperation to overcome global challenges.”
Following the EU–China Summit, Costa underlined the need to restore balance in trade and economic relations and expressed concern about China’s expansion of export controls on critical raw materials.
“I called on China to restore smooth, reliable, and predictable supply chains as soon as possible,” Costa said, adding that he also conveyed the EU’s expectation that China help bring an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
