Borrell: International Criminal Court arrest warrants are judicial, not political
Brussels, November 23 (Hibya) - The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, stated that the International Criminal Court arrest warrants are judicial, not political.
EU High Representative Borrell emphasized that standing up for peace and justice requires courage and deserves respect and support.
Borrell added that, as the reactions to the ICC's decision show, we are at a critical crossroads, and said:
“The International Criminal Court arrest warrants are judicial, not political, and have no connection to antisemitism. The EU has always strongly supported the ICC since its establishment. Its decisions are legally binding: there is no room for choice or preference.”
Borrell also stressed that threats against the court, including those from the U.S. Senate, are unacceptable.
