During the call, Zelensky informed Modi about his contacts in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders.

Zelensky stressed that these meetings were productive and that a common vision for achieving peace was shared. He reiterated Ukraine’s readiness for direct talks with the Russian President.

However, Zelensky noted that in the approximately two weeks since those meetings, no positive diplomatic signal had come from Moscow; instead, attacks on civilians have continued. He thanked Prime Minister Modi for his condolences over the Ukrainian civilians killed in the attacks.

Zelensky emphasized that ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, Ukraine and India were coordinating their positions, stating: “The first step to ending this war must be an immediate ceasefire. We cannot meaningfully talk about peace while our cities are under constant bombardment.” He added that India would convey the necessary message to Russia and other leaders within the framework of the summit.

The discussion also touched upon bilateral relations, preparations for mutual visits, and the planning of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission meeting. Zelensky expressed his satisfaction at the prospect of meeting Prime Minister Modi in person soon.
