Türk: Israel is obliged to respect the rights of Palestinians
New York, October 23 (Hibya) — United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stated that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling reaffirmed Israel’s obligation, under international law, to respect and protect the human rights of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk emphasized that the ICJ decision confirmed Israel’s duty under international law to respect and safeguard the human rights of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Türk stressed that Israel and all other states must act immediately to improve the dire humanitarian and human rights situation on the ground.
