WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus announced that the organization supported the medical evacuation of 32 children and 6 adult patients from Gaza along with 99 companions.

Noting that more than 14,800 patients in Gaza still require life-saving medical care unavailable in the region, Ghebreyesus said: “We call on more countries to provide support and reopen referral routes to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, before it is too late. Ceasefire! Peace is the best medicine.”

Ghebreyesus expressed concern over the continuation of large-scale attacks on civilians and refugee camps in Sudan, stating:

“The WHO calls for the protection of all civilians and humanitarian workers. We demand an end to the blockade and immediate, unhindered access to humanitarian and health assistance. Peace is the best medicine.”
