UNICEF Executive Director Russell issues call for children in Haiti
New York, May 23 (Hibya) – UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said urgent action is needed to ensure that children in Haiti can return to classrooms safely.
Russell stated that more than one in six schools in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, are fully or partially closed due to violence.
Emphasizing that education is a fundamental right of every child, Russell called for "urgent action to ensure that children in Haiti can return safely to their classrooms."
