UN Secretary-General Guterres urges COP30 leaders to take action
New York, November 20 (Hibya) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres issued a strong call to ministers and negotiators within the COP30 framework.
Guterres emphasized the need for decisive steps in combating the climate crisis, urging participants to act in good faith and to be bold in achieving an ambitious agreement. He stressed that the 1.5°C limit on global warming must remain the single red line, calling for scientific facts to be heeded and the interests of people to be placed above profit.
“This is the hour for leadership,” Guterres said, underscoring the need to listen to science, show courage, and prioritize the future of humanity in climate negotiations.
