Albanian President Bajram Begaj called President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev by phone.

Begaj congratulated Aliyev on the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as on the signing of the declaration and other documents witnessed by the President of the United States. Begaj particularly emphasized Aliyev’s determination and leadership role in this process. President Bajram Begaj also appreciated the support given to the process by the U.S. President.

Aliyev thanked Begaj for his congratulations. He stressed that Azerbaijan was the one that initiated the peace agenda and prepared the text of the peace agreement. Aliyev also highlighted the importance of the documents adopted at the Washington meeting in advancing the peace agenda.
