Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna issued a statement regarding new trade restrictions by the U.S. administration targeting European countries.

Assessing the tariff decision, Tsahkna said: “President Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on some European countries is surprising and disappointing, especially at a time when Europeans are seeking to strengthen our shared security in the Arctic by following steps supported by the United States.”

Emphasizing that trade policy should be considered as a whole, Tsahkna added: “Such tariffs will affect the entire European Union, as we have a common trade policy. We are in close consultation with our European Union partners to determine the next steps.”
