Estonian Foreign Minister Tsahkna addressed the UN Human Rights Council’s special session on the human rights situation in Iran. On behalf of the NB8 group—Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden—he urged Iranian authorities to immediately halt all repression and violence against protesters.

Tsahkna said: “Killings, violence and intimidation, including arbitrary detentions, and all human rights violations must end immediately. Access to the internet and essential services must be ensured, and everyone detained solely for exercising their fundamental rights must be released without delay.”

Tsahkna emphasized that the NB8 countries stand with the Iranian people in their demand for human rights and dignity.
