Lahbib: We are sending 447 generators to Kyiv for Ukrainians left without electricity
Brussels, 23 January (Hibya) – European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said: “Winter is deepening, Russian attacks are leaving Ukrainians without heat, water and electricity. We are sending 447 additional generators.”
European Commissioner Lahbib stated that the air temperature in Kyiv is minus 7 degrees Celsius and that Russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure are depriving Ukrainians of basic services.
Lahbib said: “Winter is deepening. Russian attacks are leaving Ukrainians without heat, water and electricity. As the European Union, we are sending 447 additional generators from the rescEU reserves in Poland. This is part of the nearly 10,000 generators delivered so far and will help restore essential services.”
The generators sent will be used in hospitals, shelters and other facilities providing critical services. Lahbib emphasized that Europe will continue to stand by the people of Ukraine.
