Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said Montenegro has made significant progress on its path to the EU.

Referring to the details of the meeting between the two countries, Tsahkna said, "Montenegro has made significant progress on its path to the EU. Estonia strongly supports taking the next steps; the work being carried out should ultimately lead to membership."

Drawing attention to the strategic importance of Montenegro's membership, Tsahkna said, "Montenegro's accession to the EU will make our Union stronger and Europe safer."

Referring to the other agenda items of the meeting, Tsahkna concluded his statement by saying, "We also discussed developments in the Western Balkans, support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia."
