Rodion Miroshnik, ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, shared assessments on social media regarding his visit to Alyoshki in June 2025.

Miroshnik said, “Even then, the situation was very serious. The city had been without electricity, centralized water supply and communications for two years.”

Miroshnik claimed that attempts to restore electricity and water services in the city had been obstructed by attacks carried out by Ukraine, and that drones were constantly flying over the city, forcing civilians to move between shelters.

“Since then, the tactics of Kyiv’s militants have not changed,” Miroshnik said, also claiming that European countries had provided funding for the supply of more advanced drones.

Miroshnik said Alyoshki’s population had declined from 5–6 thousand to 1,300 since his visit, adding that residents had moved to other cities under Russian control.

Miroshnik also claimed that the delivery of basic necessities to civilians remaining in the city and the possibility of leaving the city had been obstructed, and argued that Ukraine had blamed Russia for the situation in Alyoshki in its statements at the United Nations General Assembly.
