Russell: In Al Fasher, Darfur, children have been under siege for 500 days
New York, August 27 (Hibya) - UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell stressed that children are being denied access to life-saving nutrition services and that full and urgent access must be ensured.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell announced that children in the city of Al Fasher, in Sudan’s Darfur region, have been under siege for 500 days.
Russell said: "Children are struggling with hunger, and UNICEF’s access to life-saving nutrition services is being blocked."
She appealed to the international community, stating: "Full and urgent access must be ensured to deliver the aid that children need."
