NASA: On this day in 1958, the United States launched its first satellite, Explorer 1
Washington, January 31 (Hibya) - The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) commemorated the anniversary of the launch of the United States' first satellite, Explorer 1.
According to NASA’s statement, six months before former U.S. President Eisenhower signed the law that established NASA, the United States launched its first satellite, Explorer 1, into space.
The statement read: "When Explorer 1 reached space, it detected an astonishingly dense radiation surrounding our planet."
