Millions in the US and around the world protest Trump administration
Washington, April 6 (Hibya) – Millions of people joined protests across all 50 states and globally on Saturday, organized by a pro-democracy movement in response to what they called a “hostile takeover” and an attack on American rights and freedoms. The demonstrations were directed at President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
More than 1,400 “Hands Off!” mass demonstrations were held across the country — in state capitals, federal buildings, congressional offices, Social Security centers, parks, and city halls. Organizers said the events were staged “wherever they could hear us.” “Hands Off!” demands an end to “the billionaire power grab.”
Event flyers stated: “Whether you’re motivated by attacks on our democracy, job losses, invasions of privacy, or cuts to services — this moment is for you.” They added: “We are launching a mass, visible, national rejection of this crisis.”
According to Indivisible — one of the leading organizations coordinating the action with a national coalition including civil rights groups, veterans, women’s rights advocates, labor unions, and LGBTQ+ supporters — approximately 600,000 people registered to participate in events, including major ones in London and Paris.
Organizers presented three key demands:
“End the Trump administration’s billionaire takeover and widespread corruption; stop cuts to federal funding for Medicaid, Social Security, and vital programs; and halt attacks on immigrants, trans people, and other communities.”
