Starmer discussed with Carney their commitment to work together to maintain global economic stability following the US announcement, and agreed that a full-scale trade war is in no one's interest.

The leaders agreed on the importance of free and open trade among like-minded countries, and Starmer highlighted that trade blocs like the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership would be important in this new global era.

Carney thanked Starmer for his leadership on the Ukraine issue and reaffirmed Canada's commitment to participating in the Coalition of the Willing.

Starmer said he looks forward to traveling to Canada in June for the upcoming G7 Summit.
