Macron: Suspect in Rue des Rosiers attack arrested 43 years later
Paris, September 19 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron announced that a suspect sought in connection with the 1982 antisemitic terrorist attack on Paris’s Rue des Rosiers has been apprehended in the West Bank by Palestinian security forces.
Macron welcomed the arrest of the suspect—whose detention and extradition France has long requested—describing cooperation with the Palestinian Authority as “excellent.” He said efforts are underway to ensure a swift extradition process.
Macron added that several other suspects in the case will soon be tried before the Court of Assizes, calling this “an important step in the name of law and truth.”
The attack 43 years ago left six people dead and 19 injured. “France does not forget. It always punishes and delivers justice. Justice will be served, sooner or later,” Macron said.
The president also expressed solidarity with the victims’ families, who have been seeking justice for years, reiterating his support.
