Lazzarini: Airstrikes on Gaza City and the north are intensifying
New York, September 14 (Hibya) – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini announced that airstrikes on Gaza City and the north are intensifying, and that 10 UNRWA buildings in Gaza have been hit over the past four days.
Commissioner-General Lazzarini stressed that there is no safe place in Gaza, saying: “Airstrikes on Gaza City and the north are intensifying.”
He noted that more and more people, disoriented and uncertain, are being forced to set out into the unknown, adding:
“In just the past four days, 10 UNRWA buildings in Gaza City were hit. These include seven schools and two clinics that are now serving as shelters for thousands of displaced people. We had to halt health services at Shati Camp, the only health facility north of Wadi Gaza. Our vital water and sanitation services are currently operating at only half capacity.”
Lazzarini stated that their 11,000-strong team continues to provide critical services in other parts of northern Gaza and across the rest of the Gaza Strip.
