According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is an independent nation and that its security policy is determined by itself. Netanyahu said:

"Regarding international forces, we have made it clear that Israel will decide which forces are unacceptable to us.

For the past month, we have witnessed absurd claims about the relationship between the United States and Israel. When I was in Washington, it was said that I controlled the U.S. administration and dictated its security policy. Now, the opposite is being claimed — that the U.S. administration controls me and dictates Israel’s security policy. None of this is true. Israel is an independent country; the United States is an independent country."
